Fox Player stores all data locally on your device. We don't run analytics or advertising. We don't sell or share your data. We don't even have servers that hold your information.
1. Introduction
Fox Player ("we", "our", "the app") is a media player application that lets you connect to your own IPTV service providers and M3U playlists. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
2. Information We Collect
Fox Player stores the following information locally on your device only:
- Login credentials: Server address (DNS), username, and password for your IPTV provider. Passwords are stored securely in the iOS / iPadOS / tvOS Keychain.
- User preferences: Language selection, playback settings, parental control PIN (hashed), auto-update interval, and hidden / favorite categories.
- Watch progress: Playback position for movies, series episodes, and live channels — used solely to enable resume / continue watching.
- Favorites: Items you mark as favorites within your own playlist.
- Cached catalog data: Channel lists, movie / series catalogs, and EPG data fetched from your IPTV provider — cached locally for performance.
3. How We Use Your Information
All collected information is used solely to provide the app's core functionality:
- Authenticating with your IPTV provider
- Displaying your provider's content catalogs and playing your media streams
- Remembering your preferences and watch progress
- Providing personalized features (favorites, continue watching, parental controls)
4. Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored locally on your device.
- Passwords are stored in the system Keychain with device-level protection.
- Optional iCloud sync uses Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store and CloudKit — your data syncs only between your own devices, encrypted by Apple. We have no access to it.
- We do not have any server that receives your credentials or viewing habits.
5. Network Connections
Fox Player makes network connections only to:
- The IPTV provider you specify (for authentication, catalog and stream delivery)
- The App Store (for subscription verification, handled by Apple)
- iCloud (for optional cross-device sync, handled by Apple)
- Public movie / series metadata services (such as TMDB) to fetch posters and descriptions for items in your playlist
The privacy practices of your IPTV provider are governed by their own policies — we cannot see or control the data they collect.
6. Third-Party Components
The app uses the following open-source components for media playback and image handling. None of them transmit personal data on our behalf:
- MobileVLCKit / VLCKit — playback engine (LGPL)
- FFmpegKit / KSPlayer — codec support (LGPL / MIT)
- Google Cast SDK — used only when you tap the Cast button to send playback to a Chromecast device. The SDK communicates directly with your local-network device.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, attribution, or behavioral tracking SDKs.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, trade, or transfer your personal information to any third parties. Because we don't operate a server, there's no central database of users to share.
8. Subscriptions and Payments
All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple's App Store. We never see your payment information. Subscription status is verified via Apple's StoreKit framework.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
All data remains on your device until you:
- Log out of an account (clears cached content for that account)
- Delete the app (removes all stored data including Keychain entries)
- Manually clear the cache from the Profile / Settings screen
- Sign out of iCloud or disable iCloud sync for the app (clears synced copy)
10. Children's Privacy
Fox Player does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is rated 4+ because the player itself contains no objectionable material — but content available depends on the user's IPTV provider, so parental discretion is advised. We provide parental controls (PIN lock and adult-category filtering) as a safeguard.
11. Your Rights
Because we store no data on our own servers, the standard right-to-access and right-to-erasure requests are fulfilled simply by deleting the app or clearing its data on your device. If you have specific privacy questions, please contact us using the email below.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
