Getting started

What kind of app is Fox Player?

Fox Player is a media player for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV — similar in category to VLC or Infuse. It plays content from your own IPTV subscription, M3U playlist, or Xtream-compatible account.

Fox Player does not provide, host, stream, or distribute any media content. You must obtain your own subscription or playlist from a provider you have legally subscribed to.

How do I log in?

You'll need credentials from your IPTV provider — usually three pieces of information:

  • Server / DNS — the URL your provider gave you (e.g. http://example.com:8080)
  • Username
  • Password

Alternatively, paste an M3U playlist URL on the login screen.

If you don't have these, please contact your IPTV provider — Fox Player cannot supply credentials or playlists.

I get "Authentication failed" on login

Try the following in order:

  • Verify the username and password by re-typing them carefully (these are usually case-sensitive)
  • Make sure the server URL has no trailing slash and includes the correct port (e.g. :8080)
  • If your provider gave you a domain like http://x.tv, make sure to include http:// or https://
  • Some providers require you to renew or re-activate your subscription if it has expired
  • Try logging in from your provider's official website to confirm your account is active

Playback

A channel or movie won't play

This is almost always caused by a stream issue on your provider's side, not the player. Try:

  • Playing a different channel or movie — if those work, the problem is with that specific stream
  • Refreshing the playlist from the Profile screen
  • Checking that the stream isn't behind a region restriction
  • Reporting the broken stream to your IPTV provider with the channel name
Playback is stuttering or buffering

Buffering depends on your connection speed and your provider's server load. Things to try:

  • Switch to Wi-Fi if you're on cellular, or vice versa
  • Close other apps and downloads
  • Lower the stream quality if your provider offers multiple bitrates
  • Restart your router
Picture-in-Picture (PiP) doesn't activate

PiP requires iOS / iPadOS 17 or later. Make sure PiP is enabled in iOS Settings → General → Picture in Picture, and that the player is in full-screen mode when you swipe up to home.

Subscription & Premium

What does the Premium subscription include?

The Premium subscription unlocks player features only — it does not provide any media content. Features include:

  • Unlimited player access (after the trial period)
  • Access to all premium player features
  • Use on all your Apple devices with the same Apple ID

Content access depends entirely on your own third-party IPTV subscription or playlist.

How do I cancel or manage my subscription?

All subscriptions are managed by Apple. To cancel, change, or view your subscription:

  • Open Settings on your iPhone / iPad
  • Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions
  • Find Fox Player and choose Cancel Subscription

You'll continue to have access until the current billing period ends.

I subscribed but the app still asks me to upgrade

Open the in-app paywall and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed into the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe. If the issue persists, restart the app or your device.

Library & Settings

How do I refresh my playlist?

Pull-to-refresh on the home screen, or open the Profile / Settings tab and tap Update Catalog. The app also auto-updates on a schedule you can adjust in settings.

How do I hide channels, movies, or categories?

Long-press (iPhone / iPad) or use the focus menu (Apple TV) on any item to access the hide option. Hidden items can be restored from Profile → Hidden Items.

How do I set up parental controls?

Open Profile → Parental Controls. You can:

  • Set a 4-digit PIN to lock the entire app on launch
  • Hide adult-rated categories automatically
  • Require the PIN before opening protected categories
Continue Watching isn't tracking my progress

Continue Watching is enabled by default. Make sure you watch at least 60 seconds of an item — very short plays aren't recorded. If you have iCloud sync enabled, progress will sync across your devices.

Privacy & Account

What data does Fox Player collect?

All data — including your IPTV credentials, watch history, and favorites — is stored only on your device. We don't run analytics, advertising, or tracking. Read the full Privacy Policy.

How do I delete all my data?

Logging out of an account clears its cached content. To remove all data including stored credentials, simply delete the app from your device — iOS will remove all associated Keychain entries and cached files.

Can you reset my IPTV password?

No — Fox Player has no relationship with your IPTV provider. Contact your provider's support directly for credential resets.
